Profile
With a background as a judge combined with his concern for education and his natural story telling abilities, Judge Ray Corns is a triple talented speaker. His anecdotes have been shared on Paul Harvey’s Noonday News shows! Have a great time with a completely humorous program or one mixed with motivation.

Judge Ray Corns was born in the midst of the Great Depression in the foothills of Eastern Kentucky, the same area as another well-known jurist, Judge Roy Bean, who became famous as the “Law West of the Pecos”. He is co-author of PUBLIC SCHOOL LAWS, which is used as a text in more than 70 colleges and universities; and THE TRIAL OF JESUS OF NAZARETH, a legal analysis with a religious emphasis.

Judge Corns received a B.A. Degree from Berea College and a Doctor of Laws Degree from Stamford University. His professional service includes 16 years as chief legal counsel, Kentucky Department of Education; legal advisor to two (2) governors; assistant Attorney General; Secretary, Kentucky Justice Cabinet; and Franklin County Circuit Judge, where he presided over the major state trial court with an average case load of more than 2,600 cases.

In 1989, Judge Corns was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Laws Degree by Berea College for judicial leadership in Kentucky’s Capital City of Frankfort. Particular emphasis was placed on his judgment declaring unconstitutional Kentucky’s system of funding elementary and secondary public schools. The massive 1990 Kentucky Education Reform Act with an appropriation of more than $800,000,000 NEW dollars for education was a result. Judge Corns was a guest of Bill Moyers on a national television special, CHILDREN IN AMERICA’S SCHOOLS.

Judge Corns is noted for his wit, wisdom and insight. His column, THE CORN CRIB, has been a regular feature in area newspapers for many years. His humor has been shared on PAUL HARVEY’S NOONDAY NEWS, and he is a featured convention speaker all across America
